Conversation Starters

Eager to make connections at The Atlantic Truck Show but don’t know where to start? We’ve got you covered! Here are a few simple conversation starters to generate new relationships when walking the show floor:

  1. Ask About Their Company or Product:
  • "What does your company specialize in specifically? Could you tell me more?"
  • "What's the most exciting product or service your company is showcasing here?"
  • “Do you have any show specials or limited time offers?”
  1. Discuss Current Industry Trends:
  • "What do you think is the next big trend in [industry/sector]?"
  • "How has [recent industry development] impacted your business? What are your thoughts on it?"
  1. Seek Advice or Opinions:
  • "I'm exploring [specific challenge or opportunity]. Any advice on how to approach it?"
  • "What's your perspective on [industry topic]?"
  1. Share a Relevant Insight:
  • "I read an interesting article about [topic related to their industry]. Have you come across any recent research or news that caught your attention?"
  • "Have you been following [relevant industry news]? It's been quite impactful recently."
  1. Engage with Their Demonstrations and Booth Setup:
  • "I saw your product demonstration earlier. Could you explain how [specific feature] works?"
  • "Your booth design is really incredible; it definitely caught my eye. What is your company highlighting at the show today?”
  1. Discuss the Event Itself:
  • "What has been the highlight of the event for you so far?"
  • "Have you attended this trade show before?”

If you have been to the event in previous years, talking about attendance, new show features, or tying the conversation back to the previous edition could be a great way to find common ground.

  1. Find Common Ground on a Topic Outside of Work:
  • "I noticed you're based in [city/region]. What do you enjoy most about doing business there?”
  • "Do you follow [common interest like a sport, hobby, or industry association]?”
  1. Get to know the Exhibitor and Ask About Them Personally:
  • What do you do at [company name]? I'm interested in learning more about your role."
  • How did you get started in [industry]? I'm curious about your career path.”

The most important thing to remember is the exhibitors are there for YOU! If you’re interested in a certain product, service or company in general, but sure to stop in and strike up a conversation. You never know what may come out of it!
